Letter from the President:
Gary Kroeschel

Since I last wrote we had another Arbitration case concerning CMS/BCCS’s possible Outsource of the EUC (End User Computing) unit. We believe we reached an Arbitrated settlement that would map out which direction CMS/BCCS would move in. As I type this, I have yet to see the actual Arbitrated signed agreement between CMS/BCCS and AFSCME, so I do not wish to give explicit details out without seeing the document.

There have been several positions posted, so believe CMS and BCCS are acting in good faith concerning the agreement and I hope to report more details after I see the signed agreement. It was a very long day, both parties worked hard to reach a settlement we believe both can live with and will offer some job security for the employees of EUC.

On another topic:

I am sad to announce that Henry Bayer, Executive Director of AFSCME Council 31 is retiring effective 07/31/14.

He is a true Union man at heart, brightest Union Activist/Leader I have ever met and I know I will truly miss him, I have learned much attending contract negotiations with him. I wish him and his family only the best during his retirement, they deserve it.

At the same meeting we, the Executive Board of AFSCME Council 31, effective 08/01/14, accepted the nomination of Roberta Lynch to become the new Executive Directive of AFSCME Council 31 and Mike Newman, Deputy Director of AFSCME Council 31.

AFSCME International Convention, Chicago 07/14/14-07/20/14:

Our team consisted of Bessie Haak and Tony Moore from CMS and Karyn Williams from FPR. This was the first International Convention for each and they have contacted us on how much they are learning from our AFSCME Brothers and Sisters from around the country. I know they are posting pictures on Local 2224’s instagram, twitter and facebook accounts.
