NEW BUDGET PLAN IS BAD NEWS FOR STATE EMPLOYEES!
LET YOUR LEGISLATORS HEAR FROM YOU NOW!

The news coming out of Springfield is changing by the hour – and none of it is good.

House Speaker Michael Madigan now says there will be no vote on extending the income tax rates currently in place. Legislators are talking about passing a “flat” budget, i.e. no change from FY 14 levels. But the FY 15 budget must be larger to meet a payroll that includes negotiated wage increases, as well as staffing levels needed to prevent excessive overtime or to meet certain legal mandates.

A “flat budget” for FY 15 will almost certainly mean massive layoffs of state employees and some legislators are saying it means no pay raises, either.

That’s why it’s critical that you contact your state legislators as quickly as possible.

Call AND e-mail your State Representative and State Senator with this message:

Please oppose any FY 15 budget plan that would force cutbacks and layoffs in state government. I urge you to vote in support of revenue measures that will allow the state to continue to provide the services on which citizens depend.

Don’t delay. These are the final days of the legislative session – legislators will be voting on the budget at any time. Make your voice heard now.
