Tomorrow is your day—Election Day. We’re counting on you to help make sure that working families don’t lose out big-time in the state of Illinois.
- Vote to stop Bruce Rauner. As state employees face a new round of contract negotiations, remember that Bruce Rauner attacked Governor Quinn for settling the current contract. Rauner said he would have forced AFSCME members out on strike—and kept us out—till we agreed to wage and benefit cuts. That’s why AFSCME recommends Pat Quinn for governor.
- Vote to make sure the wealthy pay their fair share. This year we have the opportunity to vote on an advisory ballot measure that provides for a higher tax on millionaires in order to better fund local school districts—helping to hold down local property taxes. Vote “YES” for an additional 3% tax on incomes over $1 million.
- Vote to raise the minimum wage. Another advisory measure on the ballot would raise the minimum wage to $10/hour. It should be higher—but it’s a step in the right direction. Help send a strong signal that everyone deserves to be able to earn a living wage. Vote “YES” for an increase in the minimum wage.
