Highlights from the first meeting between Governor Quinn, and Bruce Rauner….
Governor Quinn reminded the crowd about Rauner’s attacks against public unions.
“We’re not going to be demonizing teachers or those they elect to be their leaders,” Quinn said. “I think it’s very important that we not let loose a virus in Illinois where the governor of Illinois runs down leaders of unions and associations that are very important to our way of life in Illinois.”
Quinn also contended Rauner, in a November 2012 opinion piece in the Tribune, said teachers were overpaid. Rauner said he was not specifically talking about teachers but government workers in general. Rauner said teaching is the “most important profession in our society.”
Now it’s Teachers vs State employees according to Rauner, this man doesn’t deserve to Governor.
